Dean's Welcome

Thomas A. Gionis, MD JD LLM MBA MPH MHA FCLM FICSIt is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the Aristotle University School of International Affairs & Diplomacy. As a United States Fulbright Scholar in Law, I am personally excited about your interest in international affairs and diplomacy, and I will personally assure you that our University will try our very best to provide you with an outstanding educational experience.

The purpose of Aristotle University School of International Affairs & Diplomacy is to promote education, international collaboration and good will, and to grant those individuals who dream of furthering their education on opportunity to do so. We especially reach out to those individuals who desire to learn through distance learning and realize that education and international collaboration are intimately bound by good will and the promotion of sustainable societies and nations.

Please permit me to tell you a bit about Aristotle University. Aristotle University has an expressed and dedicated commitment for academic excellence, promotion of understanding, pursuit of truth, and the strengthening of the respect for human rights, fundamental freedoms, peace, the sense of dignity, and the promotion of understanding, tolerance and friendship. We believe this is especially fostered through our Aristotle University School of International Affairs & Diplomacy which reaches out to students throughout the world to satisfy their dreams of attaining a worthy education.

Aristotle University is organized into various schools and colleges. Aristotle University was founded in November of 2006 in Carlsbad, California, and on May 1, 2007, the State of California, Bureau of Bureau for Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education (BPPVE), granted Aristotle University College of Law, a division of Aristotle University, the FULL FIVE (5) YEAR APPROVAL as a California private postsecondary degree-granting institution. Then, effective November 2007, Aristotle University received recognition, registration, and degree-granting authority by The State Bar of California, Committee of Bar Examiners, for its law schools: Aristotle University College of Law (Carlsbad), Aristotle University College of Law (Temecula) and the Aristotle University Institute of Law and Jurisprudence (as reflected on the State Bar of California web site).

I am proud to tell you about some of the schools and programs which Aristotle University has developed. They include the Aristotle University College of Law (onsite legal education), the Aristotle University Institute of Law and Jurisprudence (distance-learning legal education), the Aristotle University Emergency Medicine Physician Assistant Residency Program, the Aristotle University-UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) International Bioethics Journal Club, the Aristotle University School of Public Health, and, of course, our Aristotle University School of International Affairs & Diplomacy. Our School of Public Health has also developed and currently offers the only Emergency Medicine Physician Assistant Residency Program in the State of California (and it is only one of five such programs in the United States). The Aristotle University Physician Assistant Residency Program is the only Physician Assistant Residency Program in the United States which requires the completion of the MPH degree concomitantly with a Physician Assistant Residency.

We believe that our Aristotle University School of International Affairs & Diplomacy degree programs are of critical importance in our current times of global turmoil and global interdependence. That is why we especially reach out to students in foreign lands to extend them a hand of educational opportunity.

Aristotle University has also established a collaborative educational agreement with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Asia-Pacific School of Ethics, wherein Aristotle University established and currently hosts the UNESCO International Bioethics Journal Club. This permits our students to engage in bioethical educational activities worldwide.

If you are moved by the pursuit and promotion of human dignity through the preservation of human rights and the spread of international cooperation, diplomacy and good will - and if you desire to make a difference in the lives of others through your own education, and have the wisdom to move forward with your dreams, we welcome you to Aristotle University and to the Aristotle University School of International Affairs & Diplomacy – we are committed to your success.

I look very much forward to receiving your Application.

Warmest regards,
Thomas A. Gionis, MD JD LLM MBA MPH MHA FCLM FICS
