Dean's Welcome

Thomas A. Gionis, MD JD LLM MBA MPH MHA FCLM FICSIt is with great pleasure that I welcome you to Aristotle University and the Aristotle University College of Law Paralegal Certificate Program. We are very pleased that you have expressed an interest in pursuing one of our outstanding educational programs and we look forward to having the opportunity to provide you with the finest education possible.

Let me tell you a bit about Aristotle University – so that if you do join our Paralegal Certificate Program you will know with whom you will be “keeping company.” Although Aristotle University is a new University, it has an expressed and dedicated commitment for academic excellence, promotion of understanding, pursuit of truth, and the strengthening of the respect for human rights, fundamental freedoms, peace, the sense of dignity, and the promotion of understanding, tolerance and friendship.

We, at Aristotle University, are dedicated to the delivery of not only meaningful but useful education. In this regard, we believe strongly in supplementing our on-site residential instruction with integral communications and learning experiences between the Professors and students. This is accomplished, in part, through our unique online legal education Aristotle Scholar360 e-Learning system. Aristotle University was the first University in the State of California, and the first law school in the United States, to incorporate Scholar360 as a learning management system.

Aristotle University is organized into various schools and colleges. Aristotle University was founded in November of 2006 in Carlsbad, California, and on May 1, 2007, the State of California, Bureau of Bureau for Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education (BPPVE), granted Aristotle University College of Law, a division of Aristotle University, the FULL FIVE (5) YEAR APPROVAL as a California private postsecondary degree-granting institution. Then, effective November 2007, Aristotle University received recognition, registration, and degree-granting authority by The State Bar of California, Committee of Bar Examiners, for its law schools: Aristotle University College of Law (Carlsbad), Aristotle University College of Law (Temecula) and the Aristotle University Institute of Law and Jurisprudence (as reflected on the State Bar of California web site).

Subsequent to the sunset of the laws regulating the State of California, Bureau of Bureau for Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education, all schools regulated under the Bureau were requested to sign a Voluntary Agreement with the State of California, Department of Consumer Affairs. Aristotle University entered into such a Voluntary Agreement with the State of California, Department of Consumer Affairs without reservation.

I am proud to tell you about some of the other schools and programs which Aristotle University has developed. They include the Aristotle University School of Public Health, the Aristotle University Emergency Medicine Physician Assistant Residency Program, and the Aristotle University-UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) International Bioethics Journal Club.

Our Aristotle University School of Public Health offers the Masters of Public Health (MPH) degree. This degree is of critical importance in our current times of an over-burdened healthcare system and our humanitarian need to take care of those individuals who are unable to care for themselves. The School of Public Health also has developed and currently offers the only Emergency Medicine Physician Assistant Residency Program in the State of California (and it is only one of five such programs in the United States). The Aristotle University Physician Assistant Residency Program is the only Physician Assistant Residency Program in the United States which requires the completion of the MPH degree concomitantly with a Physician Assistant Residency.

Aristotle University also has established a collaborative educational agreement with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Asia-Pacific School of Ethics, wherein Aristotle University established and currently hosts the UNESCO International Bioethics Journal Club. This permits our students to engage in bioethical educational activities worldwide.

If you are moved by the pursuit of justice, preservation of human rights, and the promotion of human dignity, and if you desire to make a difference in the lives of others, and have the wisdom to move forward with your dream, we welcome you to Aristotle University and to the Paralegal Certificate Program – we are committed to your success. We promise to provide you meaningful, practical, and useful paralegal knowledge and skills which are focused on placing you in the active workforce.

I look forward to receiving your Application – and to seeing you in class!!

Warmest regards,
Thomas A. Gionis, MD JD LLM MBA MPH MHA FCLM FICS
